inches
The inch (symbol: in or ″) is a unit of length in the British imperial and the United States customary systems of measurement. It is equal to 1/36 yard or 1/12 of a foot. Derived from the Roman uncia ("twelfth"), the word inch is also sometimes used to translate similar units in other measurement systems, usually understood as deriving from the width of the human thumb.
Standards for the exact length of an inch have varied in the past, but since the adoption of the international yard during the 1950s and 1960s it has been based on the metric system and defined as exactly 25.4 mm.
Hello everyone
Moved into a 5 year old ‘new build’ property recently and the toilet was leaking from where the tank meets the bowl. Nothing heavy but enough to need repairing. Anyway
Found out that the toilet tank was leaning very far back and fixed to the wall. The only way to stop the leak...
Hi,
Please could someone provide any advice on what a black pipe with Tenaplas Ltd BS1972 on it, could be? Do you think it is a water pipe, rather than any other utilities? (e.g. telephone, electricity, etc...)
We have found it 4in below our garden (we haven't unearthed all of it yet), so don't...

Whilst checking drain hole in shower tray, I noticed that there is a good few inches of water lying in the base.
Excuse my ignorance, but is this normal or should this water have drained away.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi chaps,
Had a job last week where I had to convert from solvent weld waste pipe to 40mm compression/pushfit waste pipe.
The customer is a landlord and wants everything as cheap as possible, I didn't have much of a run of pipe to work with so ended up solvent-welding a piece of 40mm...
.....today I installed a wash basin and a close coupled loo into the smallest "cloakroom" toilet I've ever worked in. Measured 36 inches wide and 93 inches long. Was hell and kept banging my head on everything.
Mind you custard can sit and pee and wash their hands at the same time.
I want to install a bath that has a gap at the end to the wall of about 8 inches so Im going to get it tiled as a shelf to put on shampoo/candles etc. My tap will be fitted into the wall that the bath sits against. Do I centre the tap to the bath or to the whole wall (bath + 8 inches)? Dont...
