Failure is the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success. The criteria for failure depends on context, and may be relative to a particular observer or belief system. One person might consider a failure what another person considers a success, particularly in cases of direct competition or a zero-sum game. Similarly, the degree of success or failure in a situation may be differently viewed by distinct observers or participants, such that a situation that one considers to be a failure, another might consider to be a success, a qualified success or a neutral situation.
It may also be difficult or impossible to ascertain whether a situation meets criteria for failure or success due to ambiguous or ill-defined definition of those criteria. Finding useful and effective criteria, or heuristics, to judge the success or failure of a situation may itself be a significant task.
Had 2 customers in the last 2 weeks call me saying that programmers had failed. I looked inside one and it had burnt out and the same customer had a radio alarm clock fail too. Someone else in the village had a PC blow up and I hear of someone else just had a router fail.
I'm assuming it must...
Hi,
I need to replace the back nut on my hot bath tap. However, the gate valve on the cold water supply to the HWC seems to have failed and still allows a flow through the hot tap even when closed. I live in a flat, presumably with a shared cold water tank somewhere in the loft to which I don't...

Had to dig up a front path to replace a cold water main today. Not a long path fortunately, just over 6 feet, but do you think the householder has any redress against the pipe manufacturer? I've tried looking on the pipe for any sort of logo but just can't find one. I think the main was put in...

Now this is a delicate post & I did think twice, it is never nice to see a fellow engineer loose his gas ticket & possible his job, as a result but I remembered all the posting a while ago about how no one ever fails the Gas Re Assessment (CCN1) well it is not true, they did & it was not nice...
Hi All
I need to move my washer to a new location, but the isolation valve to the washer has failed. It is a tap type and the water still flows. The tap feels loose and seems just to be turning without closing the valve.
Can I just replace this with another valve of the same type? Will the...

I am not a plumber, and I really need some advice. I have Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i junior which is only 2 years old, yet its pump already failed. A Worcester engineer who fixed it (the boiler is still under the guarantee) said it was due to the dirty water, and indeed the pump was...
Dremel Speed Clic Cutting Kit: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools
Thought being Dremel they would be better than the Silverline rubbish, the discs are okay but the silly speedclick just sheared off on two discs in a row.
Not fit for purpose.
Hi guys im looking for some ideas or if anyone has come across same problem.
I fitted a Greenstar 24Ri straight swap for an older model installed new clock new pump and new 2 port valves,
Boiler was up and running when I left and all seemed fine but two days in it continually switched itself...
Hi everyone
My girlfriend's boiler seems to be in need of some fixing. A while a god it started playing up and now every time it tries to start, if gets about 10 seconds in and then throws up an Error 104 (insufficent circulation) and says "flow rate check failed". I'm not a plumber but I'm...
Hi, I am trying to get my company to invest in an electric pipe freezer kit.
We always hire these when required but we seem to be doing this more, can anyone recommend a good model as the one we hire seems good a rothy up to 42mm £1000+
Cheers lads.
Hadn't been touched for 25 years and it was properly goosed - the terminal box full of water and kept blowing the trip in the consumer unit.
Complete pig to change. The pic doesn't show it but it was buried in a nest of piping - could barely get grips onto it. Despite chiseling, the nuts...
Woken this morning to the screams of my missus as the recently fitted downstairs bathroom filled with water that gushed from behind the unit holding the sink!
Having recently fitted a proper pressure reducing valve under the bath to serve the shower, returning the isolation valve to full on has...

Am going to have a look at one of these tomorrow, went about four weeks ago because the owner said it was constantly flashing an alarm AO7 (Too many failures to ignite in one period during operation).
Anyway I spent almost an hour there and it ran perfect and didn't fail once. I had the cover...
My heating stopped today and the Honeywell 4043A 3 way diverter valve wont autoswtich from HW. The thermostat and boiler send correct signals and system works if I hold the valve switch to manual so HW and CH are running. First question - can I leave this as a temporary fix for a few days then I...
