Septic Failure

Hi! I hope I'm in the right place. I'm new to the forum world And the septic system world... Or nightmare. I was unaware my home ran on a septic instead of the city. Also unaware that it failed over 2 years ago. My entire yard is feet deep with septic overflow. It looks like I have a pond. The fumes are overpowering inside my home. I have a 13 month old daughter, and was told these fumes are toxic. Should I be alarmed? Any information and advice will be greatly appreciated. I am one freaked out mom now!

She's in the USA, no interceptor trap, the septic tanks lid will be burried ( never visible). the blockage will probably be in the "Drainfield" . Tank definately needs pumping, . And as said earlier ,be careful what is put down toilets etc.....
