with only £100? you'll need to spend that a week in london on advertising alone.

You'd be lucky to get a start selling the big issue with a £100 and saying that the big issue may be more profitable.

Anyone done a marketing plan for offering plumbing and gas services to London,

What would you advise to be my unique selling point besides me possibly using a cycle?

Do you deliver leaflets to your target market, should i target the more affluent as i intend to offer services 20% cheaper than pimlico advertised prices.

Does anyone have any marketing contacts that can answer the question:
how can you achive me £1m plumbing and gas sales in my first year of trading in london without spending a penny on advertising, my initial thought was to get a leaflet printed and offer 4 other businesses like curry house, florist ect to advertise on leaflet, so that they pay for the printing of the leaflet and delivery and not me.

i have done some 'research' based on your recommended methods.
to be quite frank, you are chasing the wrong 'tiger'.
you will never get domestic work from under cutting pimlico based on those tactics, the methods you describe are more suited to commercial product management if you can find one that is willing to let you grease their palms with £100 for the chance of a tender.
and for the other!, how gullable do you think people are to advertise a sweet shop on a plumbers leaflet and say thanks to you as they pay you the dosh??????????.
you would be lucky getting one job per thousand on that, even then to unblock a toilet.

your missing a key ingredient here, reputation or mass investment (£100 upwards)

Proof that there are more out than in. Funny.

Can't see you turning over a million in your first year mate, your bike would wear out.

well!,

it could well explode with good luck

the bike in photo 2 is perfect for those days when you never seem to get anywhere !

I could be very wrong but my best guess is Nich has mental Health problems reminds me a lot of people i have come across with bipolar also known as manic–depressive disorder.

I will address just one of the strategies Nick suggests: Under cutting.
I strongly feel that under cutting is NEVER a good strategy for self employed or small businesses. It seems madness to try to drive prices low in the hope of getting lots of work and working 24 hours 365 days... when the aim should be to earn a descent living within 5 days a week (A dream for most self employed people) and even hope to have some spare cash to cover time off for holidays.

If most similar businesses are charge £40, lets say, there is no reason or benefit for you to go in at £20 or £30. Stick with the £40.
As there are already lots of plumbers out there you can bet that the current typical price in your area is a good one for the customer, it is not over inflated.

As for competing with Pimlico Plumbers...! It has taken years of work, lots of money, and a very clever business man to develop such a business. If it was so easy that any one with a £100 and a bike could do it I'd be getting myself a bike tomorrow.
