Hi all, mate put me onto this place, just starting, user name's just a laff.

Have run my own business doing telecoms installs for years but work is thin on the ground and harder to come by all the time due to too many players chasing too few jobs.

I fancy retraining as a plumber and going self-employed.

Is there much work around? I generally work at least 60 hours a week when the work is there, sometimes zero if its not!

What is required to get going? Seems such a minefield of courses and "be a hero in 2 days" type stuff around.

Any tips on good course providers and which courses are current would be appreciated. Not keen on night school local college option, need something quicker but thorough.

Based in West Midlands, retraining budget is 20-25k which I can pay upfront, anything involving debt or more capital injected would be out.
