Hi Guys, walked in to office at 5 'o' clock yesterday after a hard days work installing 6" cast iron gutter and rainwater pipe, to a Church, to be told "sorry,...we don't have any more work and we have to let you go." Bummer. So, I'm having to look at becoming self employed again which I last did in the mid 80's (since after my apprenticeship) ! I'm hoping to arrange insurance and thought I would see if anyone may know who the main players are in the insurance world for Plumbers! I have requested same from the Institute of Plumbers but they never respond!!!!
Cheers

P.S looking for work guys in East/North London

Hi Ian and good luck with your search, have you tried CORGI for insurance??

Try simply business, I think mine was done through them with Groupama, make sure you look somewhere else at renewal because they tend to extract the urine.

i'm with direct line they are cheap and unlike some they allow you to use a blowtorch

hi ian,

have you checked out the insurance section. The main thing i can advise you to do is make sure you read the small print as they say. Many differences between each company so make sure you are covered for everything you plan to do. For example, does it cover you for small electrical work like wiring up an immersion heat?

Yea i took mine out with directline to,seemed very reasonable for the work i do but yea i agree with the above to check the insurance section.

Have a look at www.tradeuk.co.uk think it is part of the screwfix group, but looks a bit like a one stop shop for insurance, advertising etc.

Simply business are quite good for insurance, or try Royale Insurance Brokers, they have looked after me for a number of years
