I usually try file my solder a bit smoother than that, especially if I have run out of them olive things.

They are Prestex fine threads, they lost the old nuts & would not be able to find replacements, the new 1/2" BSP will not fit.

I've soldered onto compression for hose leads. 3/4 rad nut on to 15mm
