Fixing appliances, how far??

Hi all, recently A.R. a gas cooker because one ring was not producing any gas. i tried to clean out injector with air spray and had a general fiddle, got a small amount of gas through but it wasnt enough. My question to you all is how far should we/ do we go into fixing appliances (gas fires, cookers, showers)??

as for as the customer is willing to go in regards to money, if fixing it costs more than a new appliance then their wouldnt be much point
