Always used a hacksaw for cutting screwed rod (M10) then thought about getting a threaded rod cutter but the olny ones i can find are about £150 +

anyone any idea where i can get one cheaper or something else? doing alot of plant room work on price so needing to save time where ever i can.

thanks.

I agree jigsaw with metal blade works much better. Grinder leaves too much mess and is a bit rough.

Make sure you choose the right blades though otherwise you'll be going through loads.

A tungston wheeled chop saw is best. saves lots of times and you harly get any burrs, great on unistrut aswell.

Stud cutters are good its the jaws which cost the money. I got mine along time ago from T.G Lynes. When using then just drop gently onto studding to locate first then push down. Dont pushdown hard or you will damage the cutter!

Chop saww all the way, you can cut any number of rods( when still in there bundle) the same lenght in one go mate then you can't go wrong once you smooth the edges, its the best way to save time iv found when on sits and got long runds to hang :)

Makita battery grinder. Has a million uses and is only £200

You need to speculate to accumulate.
UHow much do you value your time? Can you cover the time £150 on the price a chop saw will bite in?
No brained for most.

Agree with Tamz, the time saved will pay for itself. Plus if you feel you'll never use it again, you can sell it on ebay and recoup some of your money.
