balance
The balance of trade, commercial balance, or net exports (sometimes symbolized as NX), is the difference between the monetary value of a nation's exports and imports over a certain time period. Sometimes a distinction is made between a balance of trade for goods versus one for services. The balance of trade measures a flow of exports and imports over a given period of time. The notion of the balance of trade does not mean that exports and imports are "in balance" with each other.
If a country exports a greater value than it imports, it has a trade surplus or positive trade balance, and conversely, if a country imports a greater value than it exports, it has a trade deficit or negative trade balance. As of 2016, about 60 out of 200 countries have a trade surplus. The notion that bilateral trade deficits are bad in and of themselves is overwhelmingly rejected by trade experts and economists.
Hi all, I have a bath tap/shower mixer that is hard to balance because hot is of gravity vented cylinder and cold of mains. The cylinder is 2 ft from taps and the house has an old tank that is hard to get at so very awkward to put a dedicated cold feed in for bath, it only has one outlet which...
Situation
I have Potterton HE24 is at one side of the house, the flow and return lead off for about 5/6 meters to the vented cylinder where the 3 port valve is located, all CH pipe work then comes off this as you would expect.
But, I wanted a radiator in a new part of the house so I came...

I understand how to do it but have never actually been asked to do so before so never have. I'm guessing done thoroughly and properly probably take 2-3 hrs? I also imagine it's the most boring plumbing job imaginable.
Good morning
Could anyone advise on where to buy a sensibly priced digital thermometer with the clamps/clips to attach to the rads flow and return pipes to balance the radiators?
Thanks very much

so, needed to change a radiator an dre route some pipe, all OK, thought, 3 -4 hours, taken 7!!! The system took 2 hous to drain, opened all vents, just trickling, not sure why.
Anyway, finished now, long day, looks good, pipe in better place so can be boxed in.
One thing, the rad wouldn't...
I have a 4 bedroom house (1986) with a Netaheat 16-22 boiler and 13 radiators.
I have replaced every radiator and radiator valves throughout, only the bedrooms have TRV's.
I replaced the pump with an Alpha 2 15/60, plus new Room Stat and new Cylinder Stat.
While changing the rads I opened each...
Hello i noticed some of my rads heat up on the return side first. This would mean some have the therostatic valves on the wrong side.
Not aprob when all fully open but how do i balance the rads as you normaly do it from the lockshield side.
how do you guys go about your working day ? at the moment I'm subbing so its eating in the morning then working right through until late, sometimes finish for 4.30/5 if we have an easy one but most times its late finishes, I would obviously prefer to finish for 4.30 every day and have 2 tea...
A few months ago I have had an old Potterton boiler replaced with a new Vaillent ecoTECH plus 428. The original system was dated - at least 15 years old in a 1930's house, though the radiators could be older. However, after the new system was installed and a number of additional visits from the...

I have attached a picture of the proposed layout of a new install of rads.
Does any one know if this design will work ok the heavy lines are 22mm and thin lines 15mm.
I am worried if I will get enough flow to the ground floor large rads.
Any advice woulf be appreciated.

Hi chaps,
It's the usual scenario.... 9 out of 10 rads all heating fine / the one which is not reaching the same temp as the others is in an upstairs bedroom. I have just spent most of today trying to get it to heat up but without much success. Some of the other upstairs rads have TRV's fitted...
Hi Folks,
Is it best to leave boiler on and go off on temp or keep boiler on time clock over winter period.
l have a 3 bedroom house, 7 rads with a Vokera Linea 28 fitted paying roughly £30 a week on gas which l think is very high considering heating is off during day!
Any advice appreciated!
Hi there, this forum is great, we have been reading the forum regarding 3 of our upstairs radiators which all needed bled and then under the guidance of this forum, removed the TRV's and fixed the pin and now they all work! Brilliant.
The problem is that now, when the radiators were getting...

Hi, I am about to purchase and fit a thermostatic shower mixer valve. I understand that for best performance the cold and hot water pressures should be balanced.
My boiler is a fully modulating combination boiler with a 2.5 bar pressure reducing valve on the cold water supply to the boiler. Is...

Hi,
I have a pressurised unvented megaflo system. 24kw condensing boiler with 9 rads over three floors. I think my boiler may have been speced a little too small as when I have both the water and heating on one of the rads (closest) turns off and a couple of the others become less hot...
