Presuming it is 22mm and not 3/4"...

Or would it be simpler to discard overflow fittings that come with new cistern (slightly diff dimensions) and just use a 22m compression tank connector? Would a new ceramic cistern come with plastic overflow arrangement?

It will probably come with an internal overflow syphon with blanks

are you replacing the toilet ??? I would do away with the overflow most if not all new toilets are internal overflows anyway, scrappy scrappy !!:)

anyone ever came across that 1 1/4" browny plastic that looks identical to old dirty copper ??? I was rather disappointed when I realised it wasnt copper :(

Get a "Country Pattern" syphon and the water will overflow into the toilet in the same way most modern close couple toilets do and get rid of the overflow all together.

Either that or a 9metre hose from your local Poundland! LOL

i'm gonna get in here before Tam gets home from work and say yes i do it was called "Bartol" i fitted miles of it, push fit was ok to be honest, haha its funny to think of you finding some of my old work and thinking it was copper, you must have been ragin when you realised

haha my eyes lit up when i seen it then it was sheer disappointment once i touched it and realised it was plastic haha

I've got some of that in my house. I was told it was called Copper Tone.

...and cheers for the advice everyone

It was actually called bartol coppertone:teeth_smile:

you can get overflow compression couplers much like a universal waste coupler.

..ah that's what i was wondering.

a brief look online didn't yield much. plus i find this place more accurate and faster than google and comes with supplimentary advice too. so always best to ask here.

looks like the cost of an internally overflowing syphon might not be much more than fittings need to adapt overflow piping, plus scrap value of removed copper. prob way to go.

I installed a Saniflo last year (replacement) and a left over part was a white flexible PVC tube which I have in my van now and I chop 2 inch sections off it, it accepts 3/4" 21.5mm 22mm a treat and is a nice tight fit.

Yep, always keep some in me van, you can get em from good ole BES. Only thing i'll say is there can be a bit of a variation in the diameter of overflow tube but up to now i've had no problem, just remember the olive IS a tight fit.

Talking of BES has anyone noticed a glitch in the website where everytime you go back to the shopping list certain items have multiplied?

It does it with me all the time, first time I was careless and didn't check over the list before I payed and the next day I have 15 lenghts of black 40mm wastepipe when I'd only originally keyed in 5.

Before anyone asks, no I didn't mis type.

Yeh, got the bloody t shirt, always double check the list before i pay up.

I ordered some stuff from BES last night and noticed their prices have taken a jump up!

Yes, there are going up and BES has now lost its appeal a little on the other hand its worthwhile to keep checking the site as they discount certain items for a few days like recently 22mm lever valves were probably the price they were 3 years ago so I stocked up.
