once a bore is reduced (say on a rising main for instance) could you gain any flow by upping a pipe size after the reduced section? i always thought no but what everyone else think.
 
The reduced bore will impact the flow but if you go to a larger bore pipe you won't continue to reduce the flow rate as it is a combination of the small bore over distance that reduces the flow rate. However you can't undo the reduction in flow caused by a narrower pipe or non full bore valve just by having a larger bore afterwards.
