What can you do with a circular saw that you can't with say, a jigsaw or reciprocator or multitool?

This isn't a trick question or weird joke lol

Cut work tops, wet wall panels plywood, chipboard any long cuts as the blade doesn't flex like a recip saw and you get a straight cut unlike if you were to use a jigsaw but use a jigsaw to cut a sink out for a worktop for example

Ah okay. . Yeah I use a jigsaw for sinks and hobs etc.. was contemplating a purchase but ill not bother.. Cheers amw

I've recently treated myself to the makita cordless multitool and grinder and reciprocator (and just now the jig) lol

I think the fake makita batteries at half the price are pretty good too

Circ saw for floorboards all day only use a multitool to cut boards in tight spots

Got me a mini cordless circulars saw...perfect cuts and easier and quicker than a hulking great 240v, save that for worktops..

cutting metal & rebates in wood. flip and mount it for a table saw.

A sharp blade, working machine and correct cut depth adjustment and proper use you shouldn't be able to cut yourself with a circular saw

I've used a snorter for 30odd years for everything including sometimes even cutting sinks or hobs out.
Fast straight vertical cuts to the exact depth everytime. You can get 1.6mm blades for the cordlesses. If you are using one to lift boards take the knife off. Never use a jig or recip for lifting boards.

I was working with a joiner last week (supplied by the customer) and he was supposed to be lifting boards for me to find a gas leak. He pulled out one of those multitools and as i've never used or seen one in action i was interested as i've heard a lot of people talking about them. I watched him lifting a board with it and after 2 minutes of listening to its buzzing i said (exact words) "Come on son, out the way and i'll do it. You're lifting boards not building ****in pianos"

Much quicker cuts at fixed depth. Just take up bit more room in your van.
