Welcome, no offence intended, but it seems a little strange that you are looking to start a plumbers merchant yet you have not researched possible suppliers:confused::confused:

Surely when doing your business plan the first thing you would look at would be suppliers, cost prices against resale prices, mark ups, profit margins etc in order to first establish if the business would be viable:confused:

Hi, no offence intended, but like bronzino said think it through before you bite the bullet. Draw up a bussiness plan, find suppliers, work out a system for your account customers. Your goung to have to invest alot of money, so dont let it go to waste.
As for the suppliers, depends on where you want your product from, it mind sound stupid, but try ebay there are lots of people selling plumbing supplies in bulk. But dont think the quality is that good
All the best mate.

Thought reps would be beating your door down to get some extra sales at the moment but have to agree with last two posts

research, research and reseach a bit more, contact suppliers, local plumbers, check out passing public near shop, check out parking, access, delivery access, ect, ect, know your market inside out,to many shops of all kinds open and close to quickly

imho

Hi. Plumbing merchant covers a vast array of materials and knowledge of same. As said research is the key, possibly specialising in one or two areas. And bear in mind year on year the internet gathers pace. The young people use it at will to purchase, the older folk less through ignorance but time will adjust the situation, and send a lot of firms to the wall.

you must have some serious spare cash in the kitty to try that in this climate, against the likes of kingfisher and co.
A BRAVE MAN

ive often thought of it but what worries me is plumbers having a slate and going under, could cripple you and in this climate its more liekly than ever before

I think this is nearly impossible to do. It's something I looked into a while back but decided there was no way to compete with even the smallish independent merchants (20 stores = more buying power than you will ever have). I'm not convinced there's the margins in it to make it work with just one bricks and mortar store.
