My bath/bathroom sink drain pipes empty through an asbestos hopper/downpipe into a gully drain.
I want to remove the hopper/downpipe as the paint is peeling and I don't want to sand it.
I have had a few quotes to remove it - the hopper just sits on top of the downipe with no screws - the downpipe is held in place with two metal brackets
I was thinking about removing this myself - I was gonna paint it in pva first to "seal" it and even wrap it a few times with cling film to be doubley sure - what do people think - would they remove it or leave it to the pro removers ?
Also, does the hopper/downpipe have to be replaced with a hopper and downpipe or would it be acceptable to combine the sink waste with the bath and maybe run 40/50mm pipe direct to the gully drain ?
thanks
