time

Time is the continued sequence of existence and events that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, and into the future. It is a component quantity of various measurements used to sequence events, to compare the duration of events or the intervals between them, and to quantify rates of change of quantities in material reality or in the conscious experience. Time is often referred to as a fourth dimension, along with three spatial dimensions.Time is one of the seven fundamental physical quantities in both the International System of Units (SI) and International System of Quantities. The SI base unit of time is the second, which is defined by measuring the electronic transition frequency of caesium atoms. General relativity is the primary framework for understanding how spacetime works. Through advances in both theoretical and experimental investigations of spacetime, it has been shown that time can be distorted and dilated, particularly at the edges of black holes.
Throughout history, time has been an important subject of study in religion, philosophy, and science. Temporal measurement has occupied scientists and technologists and has been a prime motivation in navigation and astronomy. Time is also of significant social importance, having economic value ("time is money") as well as personal value, due to an awareness of the limited time in each day and in human life spans.

Any way of monitoring boiler firing time?

Was just thinking about ways of monitoring heating system efficiency and the effect of different ways of using the house, what doors and windows are open at what times and the effect of various weather on gas consumption. We can do it for electricity at a household level, but it's fairly...

When is the last time you fell over?

I was in the lunch room half an hour ago and was last one left in there with my manager. He's a nice guy but he chats incessantly and his stories go on too long, even worse than me. Not wanting to have a second round of chat in the corridor on way back to the workshop I decided to run away...

Will reducing pressure by using a device's valve hurt it over time?

I have this valve. I can reduce the pressure by turning it half way closed. Will that hurt the valve over the long run? Thank you.

Boilers and Powerflush - a one time deal ?

Is there a "typical" interval for doing a powerflush? Reason for asking is that it was mentioned on a recent visit by "ServeHome". I couldn't swear to it, but I'm sure that when it was done previously I was told that I only needed it to be done once. History: All in 2009. New Boiler...

My new walk in shower draining slowly but not all the time. Is it an airlock?

Hi there. I have had a new shower fitted with a low Profile shower tray by Merlyn Truestone. About three or for times a week it drains slowly and overflows the low form tray. Once we use the plunger on it it’s fine. Does this suggest an airlock and if so what do I do? The drainage pipes from...
