I always want the solar power into the longest element. I do have it wired so that it can be switched to the normal mains supply though and the tank is indirect so boiler can heat it as well. I have built all this myself and have a computer running the whole house. The thermostat on/in the tank...
No I'm afraid not. I have a device that can switch up to 2 devices but it's not easy and I haven't got anything that I could switch it too.
If I ever get an electric Car I 'd definitely do that.
Yes cylinder is a Bit small.
I am looking at the Cotherm TSDH0701
It's a dual element with rod stat pocket
Boiler stat has been tried at several positions but is a third from the bottom at the moment
thanks
Basically it's an immersion heater power from solar panels.
I think I have used the EPH thermostat before! It looks very similar .
It always turned off at a lower temp though. Maybe I was just unlucky .
thanks
I have a need for for a thermostat for a copper cylinder connected to solar power so I'm looking for an accurate thermostat which will allow me to store water at up to 90c ?
I have tried a bog standard Honeywell and a couple of cheaper stats but none of them even work up to the advertised 80c...
do I need a plastic washer on the outside of a tank connector?
if so why do they not supply them?
they supply the rubber one for the inside!
if I need the plastic washer i cant do the work today I will have to wait till the shops are open tomorrow:ack2:
Yes my old one is full of muck, new one looks good, hope to get it in today!
I'd rather ll my cold water was mains I might do this as I can route the tank supply mains round to the taps outlet from the tank and do away with it.
Thanks for that link
I think I knew most things but I was surprised that I should not use any jointing compound as I do usually use a bit of 'Tru-Blu' thread sealant on most fittings just to be on the safe side.
I won't now obviously!
Thank for your advice much appreciated.
a round tank wouldn't fit I think.
I have ordered all new fittings and The tank comes with a kit with new ball valve etc.
I've ordered one from screwfix now. It just squeezes through the loft hatch I hope,
It's a bit longer than the old one but again I think I can get it in by moving the C/H header tank.
Thanks
