Best tool / gizmo for pressure vessel inflating?

Thanks guys. I have a small (but heavy!) shhhh air compressor which does the job hands and feet free. It's getting something to seal reliably on the almost inaccessible valves that's the problem and then getting it off again without letting all the air back out. I'll check out the regin. Cheers...

Best tool / gizmo for pressure vessel inflating?

I'm sure this has been asked before so if so please direct me to the thread. What do you guys find best to re-inflate pressure vessels? I have a small compressor with a standard tyre inflator (PCL). I find it nearly impossible to get this down the back of boilers, especially when no clearance...

    Noisy Potterton FSB30 HE

Fixed. Pump bearings causing modulation of water flow. Set up resonance in very tinny boiler construction. Tried to post more info but got deleted. If anyone wants more info PM me.

Glow Worm Inset BBU40. No heating or hot water

Yes Tamz, my thoughts exactly. I've never seen one. Has anyone seen a cast iron HE blocked solid?

Glow Worm Inset BBU40. No heating or hot water

Thanks SafeGas, will be cutting into the system next week as booked solid. Thought the summer use to be slow but still getting no heat calls! Will cut into the return and see what condition is like. Feed seems to be fine. Hate laminate flooring, all through the house. Big job me thinks.

Glow Worm Inset BBU40. No heating or hot water

Thanks guys. Lots of questions. Spiro is clean, fe is clean and full, when I took old pump out it was clean, all rads bleed clean water, cf is in the correct place on the feed pipe, dissolved solids around 380ppm, but I've ripped out boilers from this area and none showed scaling. Haven’t...

Glow Worm Inset BBU40. No heating or hot water

Hi all, Called to give a second opinion on this. Conventional open vented system. 22mm feed to 3 port valve 22mm primary feed to cylinder with a 15mm return to common 22mm return. When demand for hot water only, the primary feed pipe to the cylinder heats up within a few seconds to the full...

    Alpha CB28 Hot Water Problem

Cust opted for new Alpha part. Old diverter on my bench awaiting autopsy. Diaphragm perforated but why the valve moved?? Will report any findings.

Draining heating system in a 70s Wimpey dormer semi

Find a low point in the system and attach a self cutting drain down. Drain down then you can either leave it there or replace it with a standard drain. I’ve spent far too many hours un sticking old drain valves and often when you manage it they leak so need replacing anyway.

    Alpha CB28 Hot Water Problem

Hi Alpha Man, the bit I don't understand is if the diaphragm is split, which I don't know yet, how the, we call them shuttle valves, is moving and heating the plate HE without operating the flow switch. And why the HE is very hot with a full flow of cold mains water running through. Very scaled...

    Alpha CB28 Hot Water Problem

Do you mean CH flow and return? Hard to tell at the time. Young kids so CH on full blast no time to let it cool.

    Alpha CB28 Hot Water Problem

Hi Guys, called to investigate an intermittent 'no hot water' on the above so went armed with a new clip on microswitch thinking nice quick job to end the day. Wrong! Opened tap and pulled switch off boiler fired fine so me thinks diaphragm as pin seemed not to be moving. I've overhauled...

    Noisy Potterton FSB30 HE

Right, been back on this one a couple of times mainly out of curiosity. CO2 9.2 ratio 0.0008. Doesn't change much on ramping down. Goes a bit unstable when noisy but lasts only a few seconds so FGA can't really settle. Interesting as the weather has got colder the problem has gone away. I guess...

Will have a look when my FGA comes back from calibration.

    Noisy Potterton FSB30 HE

Is this thread still alive? I've been out on one of these too. What seems to be happening is as the boiler modulates down from full power, a few minutes after initial fire up, the fan reaches a critical speed where the whole system resonates emitting a loud moan lasting about a minute. Once it...
