My 2 cents. Any boiler change, for a standard customer I charge at least £750 up to a £1000...Labour... for friends I've don't £500 for a few days work, but luckily i don't have many friends.. for close family £150 or something so they don't cost me money... I charge half what British gas would...
what are people using for onsite reference guides atm?
I've had the same NICEIC books for at least 5 years, before that I used the Viper books... so not the most updated reference guide to hand..
Is the essential gas safety book any good? or perhaps the Bpec?
Also depends if the system is clean, if you do a boiler change, no flush on what was an open system and update the valves too... chances are if you just crack them open, any crap left in the rads will get disturbed when you re-pressurise and may end up turning your 'cracked' valve into a semi...
Not sure if all boiler Manufacturers quote that their pressure vessels are there to support the entire system, i maybe wrong, but I think they are only tested to support the boiler 'only'. As another said, how many rads?.. is it a difficult job to cut in a second Expansion vessel to the...
I rarely fit them tbh Shaun, so the App wouldn't see much use and i'd probably have to register a load stuff with them to get setup.. Also tried to do it online, but there isn't a security code at the end of the Boiler serial number, that the website register seems to demand..
Registering a boiler I've just fitted on the Gas safe website and as I nearly always usually fit Worcesters have never seen the 'warranty registration' option, now that im registering a Baxi Duo-tec...
The home owner is elderly so i suggested I try and register their warranty for them over the...
An update to this if its of any interest. The gas main in the road was flooded and had caused similar working pressure throughout the entire street, 6 homes were shut off over that really cold night yesterday including my customers. The water was pumped out and for now the pressure is back up to...
Hello, It's that time of year again when everyones put their heating on and you watch the Operating pressure struggle to get to where you want it..
I'm after a bit of advise regarding what people have left on safely with regards to operating pressure.. I have just fitted a 34cdi.. I didn't check...
Its 'somewhere' under the tiled floor in the kitchen, not sure about digging the kitchen up unless i know what material the pipe is. I'd just laugh to much if I ruined the kitchen for nothing, finding a sprinkler system made from 15mm that I couldn't fix
I guess it is a bit to far to run and get away with it not freezing. Knackers! I can hear it in the pipes at the stopcock inside, under the concrete floor. Just been out watching the meter dial, end number on the dial goes round once every 10-15 seconds so i guess its a considerable leak. I...
Thanks Irish,
the house is very long and and the cost of mole'ing is to much on top of the new drive way, heating system, windows and kitchen. I will literally be poor. But as far as you know there isn't any regs saying I can't do it, so long as its 760 up to the house? I'll just have to lag...
