How close can fittings go to a bend.

You didn't miss something. I forgot to include it. I am connecting to supply pipes which have been cut and trickle slightly so I put speedfit valves on. I have now connected to the speedfit valves to continue in copper. The 90 deg. change of direction I needed to route the pipe prompted my...

How close can fittings go to a bend.

I've had hardly any visible ovality or rippling beyond the bend and no leaks so far. (I used a soldered elbow when close) I'm just ultra careful and wondered if there would be a small amount which would be enough to be more than a fitting would take.

How close can fittings go to a bend.

I've recently bought a decent (Monument) pipe bender which distorts/ovals the pipe only very slightly but enough to make me wary of putting push fit particularly, but also compression fittings, too close to the bend. So far I've managed to leave a good 6" between bend or "hook mark" (at the...

    Old skool spanner found today

Just had a rummage in my garage tool box but I think I've left it on my (canal) boat so I'll pick it up next time I go down there. Might be up to a week.

    Old skool spanner found today

I've got a smaller version which I bought on Doncaster market 45 years ago from an army surplus stall. It was packed in greasy paper in a WD box and had a couple of extra bits bolted to the jaws so it could work on castellated ring nuts. Believe it or not, it is engraved Rolls Royce.

    Grey or white speedfit fittings

Based on the above posts I'm gearing up for copper. I already had the pipeslice and Bullfinch blowlamp etc. and have just dropped on a hardy used Monument tube bender locally for £25. That was a good find.

Can anyone recommend a pipe bender please?

I bid £32 on a Record pipe bender today on Ebay. Almost new in box and fairly close. Someone else bid £33 with 20 seconds to go. Never mind.....

    Grey or white speedfit fittings

Gentlemen, I need to move a kitchen sink including pipes and washing machine tap. I have cut the existing copper pipes at the first convenient place and temporarily put speedfit stop ends on. As I get a slight trickle of water I will probably connect to the pipe ends with compression or...

    Coronation Street

My wife watches that - and despite my best efforts I can hear it wherever I am in the house as it's just a load of people shouting at each other - except when fixing boilers of course. Do I sound bitter? Edit to add. Sorry for the rude word that BOD had to take out.

    Compression

What about LSX? I used to use a wrap or two of PTFE tape over the olive, the logic being that it would squeeze into any imperfections. Nowadays I use fernox LSX. It's held up so far even on the cooling system of an old Gardner diesel engine.

    pts....prices

I've noticed recently that Screwfix (not the dating agency) are becoming expensive compared to Toolstation and even a proper genuine local tool shop. This applies to all their range not just plumbing stuff. -I am fitting out a boat so need plumbing, joinery, electrical, tools etc. I've taken...

    And another ....,

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've only been here a couple of hours and I've learned a lot (reading old threads about push fit and flexis) and had a few laughs at some responses already. I didn't realise plumbers were such wags.

Hep2o - mice rodent rat damage

I wish I hadn't read this thread. I put in a bath with the taps in the middle of the long side. As it was against a wall and the taps were in the middle I had to use speedfit to be able to couple up the taps then push the bath the last few inches into place. Should I expect trouble? (Surely if...
