What made you uncomfortable about my thread? Did I break a rule or something?

No rules broken. All threads requiring boiler repair advice are closed. Some people like to still offer boiler repair advice to unqualified people so the threads are closed before that happens.
It's nothing personal!

Unlike some other forums we're very Gas Safe conscious. No offence intended we're just very keen on people safety

Oh I see, I am also very Gas Safe conscious and wouldn't have acted on any gas related advice either, we were actually discussing non gas related methods of 'solving' my issue but I understand where your coming from.

Sorry to say you can't remove the boiler case as you need to be gas safe to do this

Although as OP you would not work on gas, others reading forum may be tempted. The advice given would be partial and not specific to their situation. Consequences could not be foretold. The forum offers much advice and banter, stay with us, this is not a personal knockback.

Yeah it's not the nitty gritty of what you can and can't do mate. With Gas we don't mess about
