Discuss Baxi P74 parameter - what mean exactly? in the Central Heating Forum area at PlumbersForums.net

Hello there,

Baxi boilers (with HAGC03 BX01 motherboard) have a parameter, named "Ignition delay (for HO)". It is the Parameter 74. My question is that what mean it exactly?

I search a parameter that same like vaillant"Max. anti-cycl. time: Heating" mean:

10.2 Burner anti-cycling time To prevent frequent switching on and off of the burner and thus prevent energy losses, an electronic restart lockout is activated for a specific period each time the burner is switched off. The burner anti-cycling time is only active for the heating mode. Hot water handling during a burner anti-cycling time does not affect the time function element (default setting: 20 mins).

From what I can gather from your post, it means that when the boiler shuts down during the heating cycle, it will not fire up for 20 minutes.
It is probably operated from the thermostat, so when the desired room temperature is reached, there will be a delay of 20 minutes before the boiler will fire up - regardless of the thermostat calling for heat

Yes, the vaillant "Max. anti-cycl. time: Heating" mean this, but not fully clear to me, that P74 Baxi parameter "Ignition delay (for HO)" mean same/similar?

my goal to reduce my system "short cycle" effect that cause my oversized boiler.

Modern boilers are designed to cycle once the heating demand falls below the burner's minimum. Their firmware protects them against true short-cycling. If you are trying to suppress the normal cycling associated with temperature regulation during relatively warm weather you have two options:

(a) Use a smart thermostat to control the system and set the thermostat's minimum cycle time to whatever you think is right. Default settings are normally 6 cycles an hour for a gas boiler and 3 cycles an hour for an oil boiler.

(b) Increase the volume of water in the radiator circuits by installing a thermal buffer store or 'volumiser'.

Option (b) works better than (a) but costs more and takes more space.

You will note that changing with the boiler's firmware parameters is not one of the options. Leave these well alone.
