CONFIG.SYS is the primary configuration file for the DOS and OS/2 operating systems. It is a special ASCII text file that contains user-accessible setup or configuration directives evaluated by the operating system's DOS BIOS (typically residing in IBMBIO.COM or IO.SYS) during boot. CONFIG.SYS was introduced with DOS 2.0.
Today I have had my internal soil stack removed and a new one fitted externally.
The soil pipe ends below my bathroom window with what i think is a durco valve fitted.
Several people have stated this does not meet building regs
2 questions
1) Is it within regulations to terminate the pipe...

Hi guys,
Got a leak from a joint - bathroom sink pipe to soil stack.
Access is only from below, unless I want to make a hole in a tiled sloping roof.:nono:
Pipe is a combined sink and bath - sink pipe comes through a breezeblock wall and there is no side to side movement, so the pipe is in a...
I would like to add a 40mm waste pipe into this old fitting on the soil pipe shown in the photograph below.
There is 50mm clearance between the the bottom of the inlet pipe and the soil pipe rim just enough room (I think) to put the strap around.
The diameter of the pipe fitting is the same as...

Sorry for this off topic post. As plumbers I guess some of you may have come across pigeons in lofts?
Just found about 4 pigeons in the loft and I think they have been there a while!! I can see daylight at the eves, so guessing that's how they have got in but also the dividing wall between us...
Want to pick your brains. Having a extension done on the kitchen and wife wants to swap the living room and kitchen around so that living room faces the garden.
Soil stack currently in corner of kitchen and can't be moved as all services are at rear of house. From the soil stack to where the...
Hi,
I'm connecting a 110mm branch pipe to the main stack the top of which is in the loft (sealed with a air admission valve) however the likely connection point will be about 20 inches from the top of the stack.
Is there a minimum distance from the top of the stack any branch connections...
Hi, The toilet in my house was moved from the side of the house to the front around 40 years ago.
The original cast iron stack has not been used since but I am wanting to move the toilet back and reinstate the original stack.
I have cut a 30 cm section out of the vertical stack at a height...
Could do with some advice from an old hand in plumbing!
Basically, due to some leaks and poor installation in the first place, I need to replace some external pipework, leading from a kitchen sink to a soil stack. The problem I've got is all the existing pipework is Osma 40mm/ 1 1/2 inch...
I've not done too much 4" work - as far as I can tell the boss goes into the socket above, then a short piece of pipe with a socket fits around the bottom which goes into another socket in the ground.
I need to replace the boss and pipework underneath it going into the socket in the ground...
I'm after some regs advice on this if possible
Have a customer who has basically been stitched up by dodgy builder
He has basically left her with two guttering downpipes terminating into nothing just straight out onto her garden which is now causing flooding and water damage to the...
Anyone see any issue with pushing a WC pan connector straight in to the stack as per the image?
Fits OK [ish], perhaps a bit loose. Other option would be to insert into a small piece of 110mm pipe and then dock it into the stack.
Space is limited and I can't find a suitable spigot ended WC...
Evening lads need to run a condense tomorrow for a new install. Can I just chop a section out the cast stack and fernco a section of plastic in to it with a boss???
i can't find anything in the viper saying I can't but I got a nagging voice in my head saying I can't because it's acidic
Guys,
i will be honest and say I have only very limited knowledge on underground drainage and the only time I did it a lot was in college back in the day.
I am trying to bail out a builder friend of mine who has inherited a nightmare job from a cowboy whose horse wants shooting.
Basically...
Are there any issues running a condense into an external iron stack?
The manual says it needs to be an internal stack, but I'm sure when I've assisted on boilers before we've put it into external stacks.
Cheers
Hi all
I'm building a new kitchen and I'm at the stage of planning out changes to the waste connections for a new sink. I'd appreciate some advice on best practice for the sink trap connections to the current 40mm waste supply.
The new sink is deeper than the old one, but I reckon a p trap...

I'm refurbishing a bathroom and need to move the toilet from being up against an outside wall to an inside wall. The new location is next to the soil stack which runs from the ground floor to the top floor. It's a 3 storey house and the bathroom is on the middle floor. The stack runs inside the...

Had a job today, someone had been there before, woman had a leak on stack, half the kitchen had been demolished and new inspection point had been put in on stack as that was leaking. I arrived today and she was convinced that was still leaking. No it was coming from above, can see the water...
I asked the plumber to connect the waste pipe of the bath and basin to the existing soil stack.
He has cut the soil stack, then connected the pipes, and added 2 large rubber flexible pipes with cable ties.
Is this normal?
I got a house that wants to get rid off 3 bathroom basins and all wastes are lead. What is the best way to cap these off. Maybe just a mcalpine blanking cap? Or the best bet to take it back to stack and blank there some how?
Cheers chaps
