if that's how its always worked then stick with it.
the hot water unless it has a tap to reduce flow is a easy route so radiators might struggle when hot water is also on,
all depends how things are set up.
the insulation company tell you to get a vent to cover themselves.
the issue is a little cloudy with your fire as there is a potential for needing a vent anyway.
the insulation could change the air flow through the walls so a test would definately need doing after the insulation is fitted.
the...
push fit elbow in the wall with copper stright into it.
why complcate it?
you can always trim the wall at bit to fit the elbow in.
use a pipe collar on the copper to cover the fitting/hole.
you need to get in touch with your local college or whatever center you would be using.
Find out what courses they run and the requirements.
You will need to be working with someone to get a portfolio of gas work.
so what about the other radiators? not getting hot
you havn't given much away.
could be pump/valve/partial blockage???
as said get someone who will be able to resolve it to take a look.
so is the bedroom fitted with a room stat?
what about the lounge??
nothing should get to hot as the system will turn off if it is set up right
boiler interlock
when you isolate the boiler you are isolating the expansion vessel!
the pressure in the rest of the system will drop and loose water through the leak.
when the pressure has gone, which wont take long there will be no more leakage as the system is sealed.
when you open the valves to the boiler...
is there a question in there??
a one pipe system is inefficient.
if the radiators are in series then turning 1 off will cut the flow to everything.
what reason was there for thinking it was a one pipe system?
depends largely on where the central heating pipework is.
whats wrong with the pump in the airing cupboard??
where will the new boiler be?
only possible to give full advice with a good look,
which possibly could involve lifting floor boards!
