    Smelly cloak bog room

I had this issue on a job. Turned out to be due to the water evaporating from the shallow basin waste. They weren't using the sink regularly.

    Replacing Worcester 24si flue terminal

Hi Guys, I've been asked to replace a damaged horizontal flue terminal (80/125mm Flue) It's the older all white terminal, so just replacing the terminal spigot isn't an option. The boiler's on the 1st floor of the house. Horizontal run in the loft with three 1 metre extensions. The boiler was...

    Kane gas sniffer

Have had a Kane GLD/450 for 5 years and it's been great, they are very sensitive but you get used to how it works after a while. Used it yesterday and put it on top of filing cabinet while working on boiler. It rolled off and smashed on solid floor. What idiot designed it with a round body needs...

Very unusual problem with Drayton MA1

The Drayton MA1 is a mid-position diverter valve. When calling for both hot water and heating, providing it is wired correctly, the valve would be held in mid-position by what's called a DC brake. (Applying DC voltage to the actuator motor locks the motor in position). This is done via micro...

Glowworm boiler clicking but won't fire up

jts is quite correct, if you can collect evidence (neighbours etc) that a power surge happened, you can make a claim against the power company for the costs of repair, gsr engineer plus parts.

    Leak on boiler

Yeh, done quite a few of these. It's a flowswitch, has an 'O' ring on the barrel going into the heat exchanger body.Probably best ordering a new flow switch, comes with the 'O' ring. just have to jiggle and twist and pull and curse a bit to get it out. (after removing screws first):-))

what a start to the day

On the ecotec, I think it's more to do with not turning the power off via the control panel on/off knob If you turn the mains supply off and on elsewhere it can take out the pcb.

    Isar HE24 Heating cutting out

Even if no hot taps are dripping, you may have a water leak somewhere on the hot outlet pipework. Try shutting your cold mains supply off (Make sure the water is properly turned off by trying a tap. Then try running the heating again. If the heating behaves itself, then you need to look for a leak.

    Stuck immersion

Depends how much patience you may have. I have cut the fibre washer with a keyhole saw or similar in the past. Once you get a piece of the washer cut out, tap the the rest of the washer out with a thin chisel or old screwdriver. It helps to cut the insulation down for access. Once you get most...

Please help with Alpha C23 Boiler!

You're not following what I was saying. The room temperature can be 90 deg C, if the sensor is faulty it won't matter what the temperature of the water/room is, it will still try and fire the boiler up.
