Am I correct in saying that the capacity of an expansion vessel as written on the appliance data label is the capacity of the water compartment alone and excludes the air compartment capacity?
Thanks
Hi all
Totally new to this forum and hoping for some guidance.
Two weeks ago we noticed a brown stain on our kitchen ceiling. Above it is the bathroom and airing cupboard where our hot water tank is. We have a closed system. The pressure had dropped on our boiler and so we topped it up (have...
New to this so please bear with me! The pressure gauge at the bottom of my red expansion tank is showing zero. However my radiators are getting hot and boiler seems to be operating okay. I did bleed a bathroom towel rail yesterday which only had heat at the very bottom. Not a massive amount...

I need a new expansion vessel, problem is I've got a optima 901 and the flue goes up about a foot and then into the back wall and the vessel is at the back, it's one of the round ones, I've got to get a engineer into do it, I'm assuming that they take the flue out and lift it from the back...
I’ve been called out to a problem with a Potterton Powermax involved.
The water pressure coming out of every tap dies off after around 30-50 secs.
I took the multi-block off & pressure tested the mains where I have over 4 bar coming in. I changed the multi-block & although I have a slight...

Hi,
Should an expansion vessel pressure match the pressurisation unit?
For example, if the pressurisation unit is set at 1.2 bar should the expansion vessel be set at 1.2?
Many thanks
Have an Ariston unvented hot water tank in airing cupboard with the red and white expansion vessels and a filler tap. As advised years ago on these forums when I hear that sound that the central heating water needs topping up I usually wait until cold so the gauge goes to zero and top up to 1...
Hello all, I'm currently in Ireland and in a small cottage where the plumbing system has me scratching my head a bit. When the place was done up the builders decided that the tank in the loft was no longer needed and put a tank out back in a small extension where ALL (well, except for the cold...
Hi Guys,
Had a quick question regarding expansion vessel on a Vaillant Ecotec Plus 832. Was servicing the boiler and upon attaching hand pump to vessle after having drained the boiler, returns and flows isolated and drain off on boiler open, the vessle showed 1 bar charge.
Was wondering why...
Hi,

Found this part online but it says it will Fit a Promax Combi 28 HE Plus A,Is the HE plus A and my boiler HE A the same...
Hi,
After a bit of a saga with my plumber, I need to chose boiler size as soon as possible, the plumber is not going to do any heat loss calculations or do anything to work out accurately so I am on my own. Appreciate this is not what should be doing but after some level of finger in the air...
I have a 35litre central heating expansion vessel that has come with a pre charge of 1.5 bar. Does this sound a little heigh? As the pressure in the system will have to rise above 1.5bar for it or absorb any expansion? Thanks
Hello,
I am hoping to gain some advice following encountering several issues which I'm struggling to determine the magnitude of in my central heating system. I had 8 new cast iron radiators installed in December and since then my Vokera 28 Compact boiler has been dropping pressure on a regular...
Hi,
When my boiler (regular vented I believe) is on there's a constant trickle of water flowing out a pipe to outside (coming off the red vessel in the image below). It's happened in the past and IIRC the expansion vessel needs recharging. I'm pretty sure it's the case again as when I take the...
Evening all,
So I've been losing pressure from my boiler on a daily basis and having to top it up. The pressure gauge is up at around 3.5 bar when the boiler is on so I assumed the expansion vessel has either failed or is low on pressure. I had a look on both the Cimms website (the EV is a Cimm...
Hi, i'm a complete newcomer to plumbing so be gentle, basically i'd like to change the kitchen taps (just a simple monobloc mixer tap) and have looked on YouTube and think I have everything ready.
I've had a look at the system and it seems to be setup to include an expansion vessel (image...
Hi All,
I am looking to replace an Ideal Classic FF350 in a 4 bed detached house, 1 main bathroom with a bath and electric shower, also en-suite with a thermostatic shower that is currently pumped (knackered) from a DHW cylinder (essex flange weeping). F&E and CWS tanks in the loft, gravity fed...
The tundish near the expansion vessel started dripping, plumber came and pumped up expansion vessel and dripping stopped, great.
However now, every time we flush any of the loos we get a strange heavy vibration noise through the expansion vessel for 1-2 seconds. We also recently discovered it’s...
Has anyone installed a Refix potable expansion tank? There's a plastic insert inside the 3/4 threaded connector - should it be left in? I though it maybe to space the diaphragm off the inlet point, but not sure if it's just a protector insert which will stop the tank operating - nothing in...
