I hope that the following helps, as I was new to weather comp until very recently. It's not a direct answer to the OP's question, but the info may be useful, if a little long winded.
Converting a garage to an annex, new boiler, unvented, new kitchen, ufh in annex and various other stuff, the...
Hello All,
I have an issue with a customers system. Gravity HW, pumped CH (pump on return). Combined feed and vent. Boiler is a Potterton Kingfisher MF, only HW control is a TRV linked to a sensor on the cylinder (tapstat?). The cylinder also has a solar coil fed by collectors on the roof...
Thanks Ermintrude,
I was wondering about the baffle.. If it gets stuck can it cause this problem? The cylinder is quite old.. No discharge. Primaries good and hot. Recovery time good but quantity of water maybe 2/3rds what it ought to be.
Thank you all, much appreciated.
Just to be clear (sorry), problem is quantity of HW. Stat works, 2 port replaced 2/3 years ago and works. Cylinder is a long way from valve though, but primaries at cylinder hot. Pump OK and other HW zone has no probs, also gets much more use..
However...
Hello all,
Customer has an old Megaflow, the type with a white top, and is complaining that she is getting less hot water than she used to, gradually. The property has 2 of these, the other one is located elsewhere, and is working fine.
The problem cylinder is located at the far end of...
Thanks both.
Solutions, in answer to your questions - no, yes and stupidly I didn't check but if I remember rightly it does have a stat. I'm going to go back and check.
Wanted to be an architect but flunked my A levels as girls and beer were far more interesting. Spent much of the next 20 years as a (motorcycle) courier based in London. Got married and bought a doggy house in a doggy part of town. Did quite a bit of plumbing there - loved it. Moved to the...
Hello. A customer has a gravity HW, pumped CH system, boiler is (I think ) an Ideal Classic. Heating is a one pipe system. There is unwanted circulation in rads when the programmer is calling for HW only, above and closest to the boiler. Access is poor, but the CH flow is very hot, return stone...
The constant stress and worry due to having little practical experience. Having to work things out for myself (I didn't know about this forum). The inevitable mistakes and putting them right whilst having to pretend to the customer that I knew what I was doing.
I was in a similar situation 9 years ago - mortgage, family etc. I did 2 years, 2 evenings a week at the local college, and was given some time after the courses had finished to complete my workplace assessments for my NVQ. I got my first job refitting a bathroom for a friend, which was my...
