Are you saying it’s possible to replace the internal coil on Was planning on testing ph before and after for confirmation all the acid was removed also can use a neutraliser if required. When you say sludge inside a hot water cylinder and you elaborate please. I was planning on wet vacuuming...

    Descaling unvented cylinder

Hia guys I have a 300l unvented hot water cylinder not getting up to temperature. Primary Flow into the coilis coming in at approx 70deg but water temperature is not getting above 40deg. Cylinder is over 10years no scale reduction so Im guessing the coil is scaled or sediment build up is...

Advice please on an unvented cylinder

I cant repeat this enough, pressure is NOT the key... it’s flow rates changing a cylinder is expensive work so ignore that at your peril... modern pumps are a lot quieter. How old is the current one may be a better option to consider upgrading. If not or the pump is relatively new (less than 5...

    Working pressure effecting combustion.

Hey Bill, I see your point. But I fear that fails to to take into account what may happen under ever changing variables. For example. What would happen if the regulator on the meter was on the blink and started restricting the supply to the boiler at high demand. Would you be confident that...

    MegaFlo again. Pressure loss

Hi Chris, I did specifically say “get a g3 engineer to do the repair” but point taken will be more mindful going forward.

    Working pressure effecting combustion.

I have to disagree. The intention of the amendment to the risk classification was to remove ambiguity surrounding NCS, By removing NCS from the Unsafe situations guide there is now a clear distinction between issues that are a clear and present danger ID and those that could become so AR...

Advice please on an unvented cylinder

Again pressure is a little bit of a red herring in my opinion. Most dwellings will get at least 1bar coming into the property. But you could have 20bar if the flow rate is being restricted enough the high pressure will only last for a few secs when multiple outlets are I use. Get your friend...

Advice please on an unvented cylinder

you mentioned great water pressure! Has this actually been checked? Pressure is not the only important thing with the set up you’re suggesting. Flow rates are! Likely incoming main was piped up in 15mm/ to feed a tank. Are you confident that when the new cylinder is fitted there will be...

    Working pressure effecting combustion.

It was my understanding that as of The Gas Safe Register Edition 7 of the Unsafe Situations Procedure on July 1st 2015. NCS is no longer a valid classification. The only options now are ID or AR. Given the ambiguity of NCS If so then AR seems the more appropriate classification?

    MegaFlo again. Pressure loss

More thank likely just the non return valve in the Combi valve getting degrading or getting stuck with scale or build up of crap in the inlet filter. Seen it quite a few times. just get a g3 registered plumber to swap it out for you. Looking at a few hours (dependent on height of the valve...

T0008 flue in voids and CO Void monitoring system

Hia guys, Carried out a full service on a Keston c 36 last week. I issued an At Risk to the customer as no access to the flue for inspection. I...

Valiant turbomax pro 28e - no hot water

Hia mate lads our right. Your gonna need a gas safe engineer to sort this one. But sounds like the unit is overheating and cutting out which could be for a number of reasons but a decent breakdown engineer should have it sussed pretty quickly Good luck

Conventional boiler - Water is not hot enough

Could be one of three things? 1) the programmer, 2) cylinder stat or 3) 3 port valve. Simple tests you can do: Set cylinder stat to 60deg Set programmer to hot water only Confirm the boiler fires (assuming the pumps is working ok as you said the heating is ok) Now on the diverted valve feel...

Help from a break down guru with potterton kingfisher mf 80

had a look at the manual cant see a flue stat but there is a ttb stat/interuptor.. but i think these detect incomplete combustion...given it runs fine with the cover off dont think this would be the cause
