I have an ongoing problem with a hot water zone valve that I've currently been unable to resolve despite replacing it twice ! The customer has an S plan system connected to a gas fired rayburn and called me because they only had hot water when the heating was ON. I checked the zone valve...
So heres the story, my own boiler was replaced a year ago. All 4 zone valves were replaced at my suggestion..... for reliability reasons (they were 20 years old) - Now the motor has conked out on one of the new ones in 15 months. So before some random stuff gets put in - I want a 20 year life...

Hi
I have a vokera boiler and it has been fine for 5 years. I have 4 zones: downstairs CH, Upstairs CH, underfloor heating and Hot Water. The Hot water runs through the immersion tank. The system in sealed and it is topped up from mains water. Recently the boiler has started making groaning...
Come across some of these recently, usually only ever see them on the flow to the cylinder, not on the return from it.
Any reason for this? Does it make any difference as still won't be any flow unless there is a call from the cylinder stat?
When installing a system with zoned heating, could there be a problem with reverse circulation if you had two flows (one for each zone) but had only one return? I've always ran a separate return for each zone but heard others only install the one return for both zones.
Hi all,
I'm planning a mild upgrade my parents old gravity fed (fully pumped) oil-fired central heating system over Easter. The current setup is rather strange - "non standard" shall we say? This is a rough mock-up of the current plumbing setup:
Notice there is no open vent pipe, just a...

Hi,

Good evening folks, do any of you know of a manufacturer of 3channel/zone wireless room stats?
I need 3 heating zones for a central heating system. the unit in place has failed, it has been in for a number of years. t I a danfoss unit which has individual programmable stats.

Hi. Went to a job where they wanted a new thermostat for the downstairs as it wasn't working properly. Having looked at the controls it was a 2 zone system where they'd used a 3 port to differentiate between them. Bizarre.
Anyone seen this before?
Hi all,
quoting up for some new builds and as far as I was aware you only needed to put zones in if the floor area was 150sqm or above? Is this correct? As I've also been told that with the build being less than 150sqm and having separate living areas etc you have to have 2 zones for this...
Evening all,
I have a problem with a drayton ZA5 2 port zone actuator. The unit is not opening the zone valve despite the zone thermostat calling for heat.
I tried the zone stat in another zone and this works fine, it calls for heat and the other zone valve opens. So I am fairly sure it is not...
Dear Experts,
I have been looking at the possibility of adding zone-wise central heating to my home. Currently we have an Ideal Logic Plus 24 boiler controlled by a 10 year old Drayton wired controller and a basic wired thermostat. My current Drayton controller can separately control central...

Has someone had this problem before?

I had an original central heating/hot water system incorporating a single pump, single room stat and a mid-position valve. I have now built an extension and extended the heating system so that I have 2 pumps and an additional 3 zones each controlled with its own valve and stat. There is a single...

Hi Guys,
Sorry for making my first post quite a big one, but I've been searching for options for hours yesterday, and another couple of hours today, and can't find a solution to fit my plans.
I'm looking for a way to change my current central heating system into a 4 zone system. I currently...

Anybody come across this? Six zones on simple thermostats. Seven loops, one zone on two loops. Turn up all the thermostats and all zones heat up. Turn down all thermostats and all zones cool down. Turn up either of the biggest zones and none other, and three zones heat up, including the...
