Discuss Acrylic bath manufacturing standards/dimensions in the Bathrooms, Showers and Wetrooms area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi all,
I have been refitting my bathroom and the final piece is the bath. I have a separate shower so wasn’t looking for reinforced and decided I was happy with 5mm acrylic.
As I was putting the feet on the bath I looked at the underside of the rim and noticed that the acrylic looked thin, on measuring it is 4mm.

I queried with the supplier, concerned that I had been sold a 4mm in place of 5mm, and the supplier stated that 5mm acrylic sheet will never measure 5mm after manufacture. Is this correct? It doesn’t make sense to me that 5mm will measure 4mm???

Many thanks
Michelle
