fluid
In physics, a fluid is a liquid, gas, or other material that continuously deforms (flows) under an applied shear stress, or external force. They have zero shear modulus, or, in simpler terms, are substances which cannot resist any shear force applied to them.
Although the term fluid generally includes both the liquid and gas phases, its definition varies among branches of science. Definitions of solid vary as well, and depending on field, some substances can be both fluid and solid. Viscoelastic fluids like Silly Putty appear to behave similar to a solid when a sudden force is applied. Also substances with a very high viscosity such as pitch appear to behave like a solid (see pitch drop experiment). In particle physics, the concept is extended to include fluidic matters other than liquids or gases. A fluid in medicine or biology refers any liquid constituent of the body (body fluid), whereas "liquid" is not used in this sense. Sometimes liquids given for fluid replacement, either by drinking or by injection, are also called fluids (e.g. "drink plenty of fluids"). In hydraulics, fluid is a term which refers to liquids with certain properties, and is broader than (hydraulic) oils.
Hello
My solar thermal system appears to be leaking fluid (pics attached). Could anyone give me an indication of what the issue is likely to be and the potential cost to rectify?
The system was installed in May 2021 and has a flat plate panel on the roof. It works very well generally and...
Hi,
Been meaning to ask this for a while now.
Commercial leak detection fluid - the stuff in the hand-pump action spray bottle - it makes me cough and I feel a choking sensation at the back of my throat every time I use it. I keep well away from the thing I'm spraying, but I still get the...
So I’m called out to fix a toilet that isn’t flushing. It is a concealed cistern within a box.
When you press the button, the flapper comes up a tad without flushing. The outlet of water then pushes the flapper right up and does not sit back down again, so continuously flows into the pan...
Hi guys!
I've just purchased a power flush pump system.
And would like some advice on what is the best fluid to use for badly clogged systems that have limescale , and where to buy it from.
Thanks in advance guys!
Went to look at this job for a new install of an electric boiler. Been told another company has said it is oil in the underfloor heating system. Please let me know your thoughts
Beware when you buy the white boxed fluid masters as they've supplied a load with the seal washer missing so the siphon just let's by.
Found out after fitting one and having to go back to plumb center for a replacement and costing me an hour of my life!!!!!
Just a heads up..
was caught out the other wk stripped a cistern and fitted as I always do fluidmaster kit float and flush assy refitted cistern and screwed and sealed to wall - come to fit push button and the hole in the lid was to big the button just went through ended up making a washer from an old basin waste...
Fitted a liads of these now but the last few I fitted don't seem to shut off fully .fitted valve today and when float rises to level valve shuts off flow but I can still hear a slight hiss ,it could not have been on a worse cistern -built in and poor access anyone else had problems
Hello, a few days ago I noticed there are two trails of orangey-brown fluid coming from the back of the gas fire. I just wondered if anyone knows what it is, what needs to be done, and does it mean the fire is unsafe to use if it is leaking this stuff?
Thank u! :)
I just bought 5ml for £8....did a bit of searching and found this if anyone is interested:
Manometer Fluid - Various Specific Gravities - Blue and Red
has a SG (specific gravity) of 1.88 which is for model REGU35 AND REGU40
I am looking for a way to keep a tank of fluid at an reasonably constant temperature.
How accurate are the hot water cylinder thermostats?
I'm thinking of wiring two up to to control a narrow heating range.
The field I'm heating needs to be at around 96c but if it goes over 100c it will...

Hi,
First time poster and pretty handless at DIY. My shower is constantly blocked and I've attempted to use One Stop Drain unblocker. This has been pretty good in the past for normal sinks and toilets. Usually works within minutes. However, when I use it with my shower drain the drain...

I think they also fit the Nubis?
