So I was doing a gas safety landlord check on a vaillant ecotec 835 and the meter was so far away from the flat that by the time I got there the boiler got to temp and would momentarily shut off and I couldn’t get a full reading for a gas rate. I tried numerous times. In the end I got the reading from the gas valve inlet and ran the boiler at full rate. Is this the same as the operating pressure and acceptable for the cert? TIA

no its not

combi if yes why not turn the hot water on then put it into service mode

So yes I ran the hot tap and then put on chimney sweep but this was why it was turning off momentarily. I think someone may have closed an iso valve somewhere so the boiler wasn’t getting rid of the heat quick enough. So anyway thanks for your reply.

sounds like there was another issue if the boiler wasnt staying alight when the hot tap was running

Mines Regin , just checked to be 100%

Operating pressure in mbar or heat input KW or BTU
Before I confuse myself, is operating pressure on the inlet to the gas valve? Only ask because I always gas rate mine now as the first landlords I did, I checked the Inlet pressure at max rate and my then trainer said I was wrong because it's asking for burner pressure not inlet pressure and told me to always do a gas rate instead.

You cant really do a burner pressure very much these days , I set at full rate and take a inlet working pressure at P 1 , this I always took as operating pressure , unless somebody else says different lol .

Theres no box on the regin to record a gas rate , I suppose there maybe on others .

Yeah sorry when I say gas rate, I meant heat input. I use the app which gives me gas rate, and a gross and net heat input. I just refer to them as the same thing.

Closed as we don’t allowed detailed gas advice in the public side
