So went to a job today, replaced an old Randall 130 mechanical timer with a Honeywell st9400c on a y-plan system.
Water channel fine. Heating channel was fine in that it sent a signal (if the room stat was calling) to the 3 port, but nothing on SL. Figured a faulty head. Replaced the head and...
hi everyone
I’ve noticed a small issue with my heating and it’s bugging me because I can’t put my finger on what’s causing the radiators to randomly come on when our Nest therm is off.
I don’t think the Nest is at fault because the heat link is not showing “Heat on” lights when the boiler...
hi everyone,
I’ve just changed my circulation pump and I only noticed before re-fitting that the diverting valve was set on HW.
So I must’ve drained the HW side to just below pump level?
Then I refilled and turned it on.
Is there any way I must bleed it now as it’s the HW side?
Sorry if...

Evening all.

Hi,
I visited a job where the customer had no control over heating and hot water, they were told by BG that things were missing and it was all wrong so nothing could be done, what a joke.
I was expecting to find no valves, stats etc but when I arrived I was surprised to find a fully wired Y...
I've got a little install test for helplink tomorrow and I've been told I'll be given s & y plan diagrams and be told to fill in the blanks.
I know the very basics about s & y plan but to be honest the most I've done on them is change a 2 port or rip the system out!!
Any pointers on what I...

If a y plan system shuts down when the last function was central heating power remains on to the motorised valve and maintains the motor in a stalled condition. This means that It can remain in this state overnight . Has anyone found a solution to this situation?

I supposes you would call it a y plan. Changed the heating pump on it last night as it has been pumping over so bad with cold feed on flow and vent on return it had killed it. Going to change the cf and vent positions on Saturday. But instead of a mid position valve it has a second pump on the...
Hi everyone,
i have just bought a house which has a y plan central heating system with an oil fired conventional boiler. The house was prob built in the 60's, I'm not sure how old the system is but my guess is it's been in a while. The boiler is Wallstar 12/14. The radiators take a while to...
