All,
Belfast, Northern Ireland. I am in a bit of a predicament. I have recently had a stove fitted in a chimney that had a disconnected and capped gas fire. The old gas line went straight out the back wall and was visibly capped a short distance from the gas meter. A simple pull out job. Upon...
What do you guys do when you encounter dead birds behind a gas fire? Clear them and carry on as usual or fit something on top of the chimney to stop this happening again?
Hi team,
We just moved into a new property that has a gas stove where once there was a fireplace. The chimney is still there so we would like to remove the gas stove and put there a real fireplace. From what I can see, there's a metal tube that goes from my gas meter into this stove. Do I need...
So the fireplace will be turned into an alcove where we can add a nice vase and light as a centrepiece as we have had the olf gas fire removed.
We shouldn't block the fireplace up as it can lead to condensation so what size hit n miss air vent should I add to the top of the alcove. It will be...
Hi,
Wanting to get rid of gas fire place, cap off and cover the hole. Any ideas on rough cost for this? Also how big would be actual hole be that’s left behind? Cheers
It's a very heavy looking lead plumbed in(?) box behind the fireplace. There used to be a 70/80's gas fire in front of it.
I don't want to start removing it if it's plumbed into the mains. However running a tap doesn't make a noise of water flowing through it.
Any ideas gratefully received.
Hi all
Sorry for long post.
I live in a house that's about 25 years old. There is an old gas fireplace that I having professionally removed (don't worry I'm not touching anything gas related!). It's the type of fire that stands on 4 legs and neatly sits inside the fireplace area.
At the back...
Hi, I'm doing a domestic gas engineer course and I came across this fireplace that I need to use in my portfolio. Does anyone know what make and model it is? I need to find a user manual for it... See photos attached. Many thanks!
Hi,
I have just bought my first house and I want to get rid of the existing fireplace and put my TV there instead. The fire vented through a cavity flue to the roof which has like a ^ sitting over the top.
Am I OK to plasterboard this up or do I need an air brick somewhere, and if so, where...
Fire needed: I have a fireplace opening that is 380mm wide by 500mm high. I have a gas safe plumber to fit a living flame type fire if I can find one small enough to fit it - Does anyone know of such a fire. It doesn't need to be anything fancy.

I have a decorative fireplace in my rented flat, (no actual heating just a metal cover) and behind it a large (pretty cavernous) stone space that leads up to the chimney. I want to block it up, as a lot of cold air is coming down (and heat escaping up) but am finding it difficult. I bought a...
Hi guys,
I live in Spain, have a small central.heating circuit but also a fireplace. I wanted to add a heat exchanger in behind the firrplace insert to distribute some of the fireplace heat around.

Has anyone come across anyvgas fires situated in open fireplaces (not sat in a builders opening).
The fire was sat in an old victorian fire place which was in effect and open chimney, I have ID'd it for various reasons, but have never come across such a fire setting. Just wondered if anyone...
Just after some advice. I have removed the old back boiler from the fireplace in my house (see pic).
The fireplace has been opened out to the bricks holding up the lintel, and all the debris removed. The base of the fireplace drops below the floor level by approximately 1-2 inches and jutting...

the control panel, under the burner tray left side
the fan should achieve optimum speed etc, the green neon
GAS indicator should illuminate, indicating that gas is available.
i have to click the piezo ignition several clicks, but still...
I am fitting the fire into the firplace myself and routing the pipe so that I can put the fireplace back together, but I am having a Corgi come to connect up the gas supply - I am very handy at the DIY, but wouldnt touch anything as specialised as actually trying to connect the gas - so there IS...
