I have a Worcester Heatslave 20/25 oil boiler which appeared ok until I had my last oil refill about two months ago. Since then I've noticed a strong smell which I'm really worrying about. I asked my landlord about it and he reckons he can't smell it yet my friend could smell it as soon as she walked in my house! My boiler is in the kitchen and the smell hits you when you open the kitchen door :-( Also the room above the kitchen!
I now have constant headaches & my chest feels tight. I don't know if these are a coincidence or as a result of.
My landlord says he can't get it serviced until the new year. I am really concerned :(

Turn it off: I know this is difficult in these cold conditions. The landlord has a responsibility to ensure your safety. Sounds like a serious problem! If landlord does not respond, call The health & safety executive for your area.

Should I switch it off at the plug?

I have 4 young children here, this is an absolute nightmare :(

Yes switch off at the plug. Sorry Lisa about your dilema. Just trying to keep you safe. Don't get fobbed off by your landlord. Its their property and they have a duty to ensure you are safe.

All done, landlord came out yesterday as it stopped completely. Engineer came this morning and had 2 replace 3 things, sorry don't know what exactly but pump was one of them!

Fantastic, glad your heat is back on. You can spend a couple of days warming up again; not an aesy week for you.

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
