Which M Class dust extractor

Hi,

I after opinions on which M Class dust extractor is better for coreing holes when using a dust extraction adaptor. I have narrowed it down to either the Bosch GAS35 AFC or the Metabo ASR35.

Any one used them both?

I currently have the Trend M Class but have never been happy with it. I looked at the Bosch originally but avoided it due to the price.

A few people say the Metabo is good but I have not used either machine to make a comparison.

Which bags do you use with the Bosch as they seem to have a few options? My main use would be coring holes with a Marcrist dust extractor and the odd wet use.

It’s upto you if it’s dusty I would just use a bin bag

I have been looking at core dust extraction but mostly concerned with the other end i.e. the core bit and it's connection into the hose. Some dust will always leak here, especially as you get started so fancy pants vacuum with super efficient extraction on the other end doesn't make sense over a good standard vacuum (I have a standard bosch wetndry and it's good). Am I missing something?

Its not about the suction its about the filtration to stop the very fine harmful dust escaping back into the air from the dust extractor. The M Class is designed for very fine dust a normal hoover is not and will block easily and let dust escape into the air.

M Class extractors are compulsory on building sites now.

I have the Nilfisk Alto and would recommend it.
Prefer it to a Festool one I tried.

I get that but would the tiny amount of the finest dust that a well maintained "site" vacuum might leak be much more than the amount if dust that leaks from the intake end esp at the start of the cut?

I am no expert on this subject but I understand that the dust from a core hole will just fall to the ground unlike the dust that is forced out of a vacuum cleaner will be propelled into the air to be breathed in. Also the debris that escapes from the core hole is later cleaned up by the vacuum cleaner compounding the problem.

I am not trying to justify them and this is only my understanding.

I just like to buy the best tools available and I want something that will do the best job possible on all tasks both wet and dry.

Hi Shaun,

One of the major differences between the two machines is the Metabo has two filters it is vibrates them when they are blocked rather than blowing air through them every 15 seconds like the Bosch.

Do you find that it is a problem when you are coring and the filter clean operates (does it stop collecting dust).

You can turn the afc off if you want but tbh it might loose suction for a second or two but nothing that bad

Does the filter block if you do that if sucking fine dust?

Haven’t had it loose suction yet I guess if your grinding floors a lot it would pay to have a spare filter but there cheap enough not to care

When I looked the filter is about £50 not sure I would call this cheap. even the fabric bags are about £10 each unless I am going to the wrong place?
