WE need hot ware quicker

We have recently moved into a 3 bedroom, 2 storey house where to heating is a combi-boiler installed in the loft and the bathroom is in one end of the house on the ground floor.

It takes a very long time for hot water to appear in the kitchen or in the bathroom.

Do anyone have a solution that can fix this?

Solution: Basically a Re-plumb of the hot water piping.
You may be able to install a small electric hot water electric heater under the kitchen sink to alleviate the kitchen problem, but that wont help the bathroom

1. It takes a long time for hot water to appear because the water in the pipes which has gone cold has to be run out through the tap(s) first.
2. Without changing the location of the boiler and / or installing a hot water cylinder nearer to the point(s) of use, there is little which can be done.
3. Palliative measures would include:
3a. Reducing any runs of 22 mm pipework to 15 mm pipes. Less cold water to run off.
3b. Insulating the hot water pipes. Only really much use if taps are frequently used, as will only delay cooling off.
3c. If possible, shortening any hot water pipe runs. Doesn't sound likely given your layout.

If you have access to the pipe work you could add electric trace heating tape strapped to the side of the pipe this is then lagged to retain its heat , this keeps the temperature around 40° + in the pipework so when you turn the hot tap on its there instantly . Kop

And self regulating along entire length, gives more power in a cold spot, on the posh ones - mind you it gets pretty pricey!

The ones I was looking at are meant for processing plants to keep chemicals in pipework and vessels at the correct temperature- interesting, cheers KOP.

Water conservation guidelines state that hot water should arrive within 30 seconds of opening the tap. How long does yours take?

Roughly how long is the pipe from boiler to tap and what diameter does it have?

Combi's often have an 'ECO' setting which can make a significant difference to the time needed to deliver hot water, check your boiler instructions. Also check that the boiler is firing promptly when the tap is opened.
