Got a vaillant ecotec boiler and it makes an awful noise sometimes which stops when the hot water tap is turned on, boiler is fully serviced and clean, couldn’t get it to replicate for the last service so the engineer couldn’t find anything wrong!

If it was a rattle and hum i'd say it could be U2.
If this rumble is like water boiling then it won't be combustion as I first suspected. Your Engineer needs to hear/witness it as you know but he/she should be able to solve it once they have.

I have a video of the boiler making the noise which I attached at the start of this thread but it doesn’t work for some reason!?!
