Unvented cylinder certificate

Hi guys

I've done my G3 in December as I needed to fit an unvented cylinder in a restaurant.
I said to the client to notify BC about the installation.
The restaurant is new so BC came around a couple of times for inspection. I said to the owner that they will have to give him the certificate for the cylinder as I can't self certify it. That's what I've been taught in the course.
Now he is saying that BC don't do that and I need to find someone who can issue the certificate!

What do you think, who is wrong in this situation?

I thought you had to pay a few hundred Pounds to get BC to sign it off. Probably why the customers want you to sort it.

Yeah there is a fee but I didn't put it in the quote. I had the same thought to be honest with you. He is sooo tight he is trying to squeeze the price and he insists that BC can't certify the cylinder. That's why I'm posting here to find out what's going on. The job is done just before Christmas but still owes me half the money for the full work not just the cylinder. What a pain in the arse he is....

Then you're probably going to end up paying it. You're a trader specialising in this sort of work and they're a domestic customer who relying on your expertise. Ask your legal advisor (or Google) about 'implied terms in contracts'.

TBH, he's probably not your biggest fan right now either.

My advice would be to turn the unhappy customer into a happy one by paying the registration fee with good grace. Unless you do less than a couple of these a year then it's worth joining an appropriate CPS to avoid this sort of hassle in future.

I told him before I do any work and he said he will do as he had to notify them anyway for the demolition and building work. I remember in the course we told that either the owner or myself can notify, this is why I left it with him. Lesson learned now!

I wouldn't mind pay the fee, I just hate saying that it's not possible. All my customers are happy never had any argument, is just this guy and just found out he does that with all the tradesman.
I plan to get registered with cps in the near future as you said to avoid all this hassle. Definitely worth it!

I contacted APHC the other day and asked about unvented cylinders, I didn't mention direct or indirect though. I don't see the difference between direct/indirect as are both pressurised and both using power elements (when needs to).

You can notify indirect with a boiler install with gas safe 2.75 and your done
