Hi all just wondering how many of you guys plan and size pipe work and what methods you use to size pipe work. And is it essential to size pipe work for heating systems and extensions to hot and cold pipe work?

Just in general for example a 3 bedroom new build. Or if someone in a small two bedroom house wants a heating system from scratch.

It all comes down to how much experience you have of certain systems. If I'm working on something that is out of my comfort zone I will spend the time doing the calculations so that I don't have any issues.

you have to plan the pipework to quote the work as the cost difference is quite high if you get it wrong especially on larger jobs. Most of it can be done from experience. If your customer wants plans and calculations then you have to get ya pencil out :)
