Cheap bes ones and staple 2 together ends up around £3 lasts over a month
Hi thereWhat’s the best soldering mat / heat proof mat available?
Did they last longer when they were made from asbestos?
I,ve seen me using an old sawI can remember people using bits of roofing sheet, and never questioned what it was made from. The corrugation forming a snug shield round the pipe, just no good in really tight spaces.
In the days of pilot lights and no PCB's in boilers we just got the job done, life was so much simpler and I am convinced that the customers were also happier, now they get error codes and think they are being taken for a ride!Yes they did, you didn’t though
I remember the white heat proof mats under all the Bunsen burners in school labs ...Did they last longer when they were made from asbestos?

A wet cloth hanging over the pipework is good for stopping heat transfer. Centralheatkingyep, give me a Baxi Bermuda any day.
I have used cool gel on occasions, till the top came off and it went all over the van.
