I've been told I need silicone but I'm not sure which one or what type. Also, once it's filled and dryed would it be worth sticking a piece of the same type of plastic on to of the repair holes?

What is the panelling doing, if it's purely aesthetic and they're not too large filling with a general purpose silicone should be enough.
