Discuss Shower drain cover - can I get something that will fit? in the General DIY Plumbing Forum area at Plumbers Forums

The drain cover in my shower cubicle is flaking and discoloured. I was hoping to remove the centre section and replace it with one of those slightly-domed covers, concealing the outer ring. Unfortunately it seems they all come with a 42mm spigot attached, and the hole is just 40mm. I don’t want to turn this into a major project because the shower cubicle itself will need replacing in a year or two. Any ideas? TIA!
