Hi. My first post, please be gentle.

My brother moved into a bungalow with a recently fitted kitchen. The heating system is an older vented one.

The hot flow to the kitchen mixer is really poor. I assume that the new tap is designed for high pressure supplies, plus the lack of head in a bungalow. I think the tap connectors are 10mm, instead of the half inch that would originally have been fitted.

Without spending big money, is there a way to boost hot flow. If changing the tap is best, can anyone recommend one that can cope with gravity hot and mains cold.

Many thanks

The cheapest solution is to replace kitchen tap for low presure one
Get yourself to a plumbers merchant and they will sort you out :)

Thanks for your reply.

Can anyone recommend a brand of tap or model that is good with low pressure or unbalanced supplies supplies? In this case the cold is mains, but hot is gravity.

Failing that, can anyone recommend a good supplier/merchant?

Toolstation are very good . Also you said it has 10 mm bore ..check the check valve is not clogged up and maybe swap 10mm flexis for 13mm. Went to one the other day and saw a washing machine tee'd off the hot just before the I/Valve this lowered the pressure.

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
