Paying to be top of google search engine.

Any of you guys ever done this?
I have paid out £99 for 30 days plus vat so £147 They have said that with this i can expect to make at least £1000 back. Has anyone ever used this as a form of attracting customers before and does it work?

How can they possibly put a figure of a grand on it? I have thought about it at one point but never followed it through. Getting calls (mostly from other companies selling the same crap) and getting jobs are totally different things.

I surely can't be the only one who isn't stupid enough to choose a company because they've paid to get one of the sponsored slots on a google search?

If anything I don't think I even read them most time. Just automatically blank them out. Google is a phenomenally good tool for bringing up reliable results with the right search technique. There's never a need to use the sponsored links.

But I suppose enough people must go for them, so maybe it's worth it.

I get 3 calls a week from sales idiots all claiming I can be top of google. And they normally use the line " we only allow 1 plumber in your area so you will get all the work"

It's all a load of rubbish I'm afraid. always get more calls on a Fri afternoon as they desperately try and make there sales targets.

I get them called me loads they say how would you like to be top of google and i say for what keywords , they say 'headingley plumber ' thing is this is really easy to get top for that keyword because nobody types it in . They only type in 'leeds plumber' get me to the top organically listed for that phrase , can you do that ? they hang up most of the time

Hi. I am often at the top of Goggle on a couple of items i make. Although being top of any thing can give one a nice feeling. It does not necessarily follow that you will take lots of orders. Similar to C&G hard to cash at Tesco,s but a useful part of the industry and marketing.

a mate of mine has been paying £300 a month to be at the top of google search,
the best he has ever made is 10th.....

i on the other hand pay nothing on a free site and if you type in the same search keywords, i am around 3rd or 5th.

having also an i.t. degree in programming i can inform you that you can do it yourself with your own freee web-site just by using the right key-words at the top of your page listing. google just string allong the highest bidder and creep them up a score or two untill they can cream some more readdies from you next time.
have you ever thought why they dont offer you a one time fee to get you at number one for the whole year?.

google ad word is rubbish. tried it because you have to cost me around 50 quid a month on average. did it for 3 months to give it a fair go . not worth now having my web site re designed and learning seo myself to get up the page rankings.

I usually say that I have had several calls all claiming to put me in the top ten. So how can they all do it answer they can't and you just won't get anywhere if you complain as they'll have some small print that covers them somewhere.

I pick where my adverts go that way it's down to me anyone phones me now they get told where to go.

im already frequently top of google for the searches 'southport plumber' and southport gas engineer' thats the town we live in and it brings us calls every week. i did the seo myself as well as the site which costs just 4.99 a month to host. I used a site builder and never had any specialist web site building training. www.ainsdalegas.co.uk its not amazing but does the job so try put some work in yourself before you pay seo companies or sponsered search engine listings.
