Over the rim toilet freshener has gone down the pan. Toilet is now slow to flush. Have tried a plunger. Will it eventually pass through the pipes?

It may eventually, but most probably not.
The hook will be caught somewhere and it will catch everything that tries to go passed it.

Even if it dislodges from it current position, it will catch somewhere else.

It will be an expensive mistake, but you will remember never to use that type of toilet freshener again.
I've removed dozens upon dozens of them from blocked drains
