hi all, im an out of work plumber/gas fitter at the moment looking for work. i have been out of work since ~october. my ACS runs out in a few months. i have never actually done any plumbing courses as the guy i started my apprenticeship with said no need as il pick up plumbing as i go along and mainly need gas qualifications.

now i have applied for a few plumbing jobs and not got any of them and wondering if this is a major problem.

also wondering how difficult is is to start up on my own and what kind of money is needed to start up.

Unfortunately, qualifications are a big thing now mate.

Why not go for your NVQ2 in Plumbing? Sounds like you have plenty of experience and could easily get it??

An NVQ2 would cost you from anything like 600-800 quid and would help you get site work. Particularly if you have your CSCS card.

Alternatively, go private and stick an ad in the local paper etc and go from there.

Let us know how you get on and your contributions are more than welcome :)
