Hi all,

New member here signing up to pick the brains of wiser individuals! (no use trying to mask my intentions).

I'm currently visiting my Grandfather in France and noticed his upstairs rads aren't generating much heat... I've been going to bed fully dressed since my arrival! >_<
Done the basics of giving the TRVs a gentle twist and turn to see if they're seized, but guessing from the low level warmth of all the upstairs rads, it's air in the system.

Anyway, he's never tinkered with his heating system as it's a bit of a one-off I think, and the setup is something I'm totally unfamiliar with (see photos). I basically wanted to vent the rads as that's obviously what the issue is, but prior to doing this I wanted to make sure I could repressurise the system before venting all the air out - low and behold I can't!

The gauge is definitely functioning as releasing a small amount of air from one of the rads lowered the reading slightly (also the little red knob on top of the gauge releases pressure. I've played around with the two red-handled valves assuming they would allow me to add mains water to the system and increase pressure - no joy! =(

There are some other odd looking valves that I don't really fancy touching without knowing their purpose, I've never seen anything like them before.

Anyway I'm hoping someone may be able to shed a little light on this, or offer some advice beyond "call a plumber". I know I'll need to provide some more information but it's probably easier to post some photos and go from there.

Cheers!

there is no filling loop there you need to look elsewhere for it
Thanks for the reply, there's nothing in-line before or after this as far as I can see. So beyond perhaps a filling loop inside the oil boiler itself I'm a bit lost! (couple of photos of the console and internals of the boiler).
