Just looking at various 22/15mm secondhand benders and notice many come without guides.

Are guides generally interchangeable between different brands or are they specific to a particular brand/model?

In use, is there any difference between alloy and steel guides ie is one type considered better than the others?

Regards,

Peter

Hilmor is now made overseas, but were made by these guys in the UK

Before Irwin moved production overseas.

You can still buy uk made "hilmor" pattern benders from them for about 70quid.

Cheers Gents...I am not a plumber but over the years have dabbled doing pipe work on various DIY projects with some degree of success. However I have never tried bending piping but would love to give it ago even if only with 15mm...

I just use a big adjustable, if needed.

If the screwfix ones are tat. Defo go British and get these. They sound great. Glad I saw this, been thinking on a new one to replace my old starting to fail rothenberger.

Thanks Gents,

As this is not for my livelihood, I can't really justify £70 or £80 on a brand new one, but at the same time I am trying to avoid the very cheap Chinese crap sold on line..

Any thoughts on a new in box Record 218M for £45 delivered?

It was advertised as an Irwin Record 218M, but looking at the box just says Record....I ve no idea where it was made, but I believe the original Record stuff was made in the UK?

Use elbows cheaper for diyers

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
