moving stopcock

I have been asked to give a price on moving a stopcock for a friend

The stopcock is situated right next to the wall in the corner by the front door so they want it under the floor as it will always be in the way otherwise... Discussed having a hatch so it's easy access

The problem is the house is old so it's all lead pipework
I just wondered is lead pipe ok to take back into the wall and cut a little lower down and as fittings to? Iv not used much lead pipework like this other than on decommissioning bath suites

He wants copper above the stopcock which I have no issues with

hi there cut back lead and use a lead loc you can get them with a stub ready to fit a stoptap..brum

There is in theory no problem cutting back the lead pipework and fitting a lead lock (6 or 7 Lb usually)and then a new stopcock
The two problems here are ,firstly,you have to be so,so careful when handling old lead pipe,can split or pinhole appear so easily and if you cut back to close to the wall this is a stress point and you could end up having to cut back the wall and in big do do..this is were the second problem comes in....keeping the person you are doing this for a friend !!!

Cheers for the advice guys.... Just been looking at the fittings etc for what I'd need
I know when iv worked with lead it can split easy when there is a little crack so I know its not an easy job in that respect

personally I would use a universal adapter more or less look like a mdpe fitting I arnt too taken with ledlocks

Not allowed to wipe now, you get lead into the wata.

I would dig up and couple outside and bring mdpe into the property.

As above,hilmac or plasson universal coupler. Lead locs are good as we'll.

Cut the lead with an old pair of poly cutters, less chance of splitting the lead and a nice clean cut
